A tense moment unfolded on Day 5 of the third Test at Lord’s when India’s Ravindra Jadeja got into a heated argument with England fast-bowler Brydon Carse.Â
In the 35th over of India’s second innings, Jadeja played a shot towards third man and took two runs. While completing the first run, he and Carse collided in the middle of the pitch. Both players were looking at the ball and did not see each other coming. The collision seemed accidental, but Carse was not happy. He gave Jadeja a mouthful.
Ravindra Jadeja did not ignore it. He walked up to Brydon Carse and responded. The situation became tense as both exchanged words in the middle. England captain Ben Stokes quickly stepped in and stood between the two. Umpires were alert and made sure things did not get out of hand.Â

The incident came at a time when India were under pressure. Jadeja was trying to build a partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy after three quick wickets. When Jadeja ran a double off Carse’s bowling, they accidentally ran into each other halfway down the pitch. Carse, perhaps thinking Jadeja was in his way, reacted angrily.
He shouted something at Jadeja, who immediately turned around and walked towards him. Before the situation got worse, Stokes acted quickly and stood between them. Both players looked fired up, but no further trouble happened.
Notably, the ongoing Test at Lord's has already seen quite a few arguments. It all started with Zak Crawley delaying the proceedings in the final five minutes of Day 3. On the following day, England hit back at India when nightwatchman Akash Deep also took a leaf out of Crawley's book.
India in Trouble But Still FightingÂ
At the time of writing, India are 145/8 while chasing 193 to win. Jadeja is still at the crease on 42, with Jasprit Bumrah at the other end on 4. The duo has formed a 33-run partnership. India still need 58 runs, but only two wickets remain.
Earlier in the day, India lost four important wickets. Rishabh Pant was bowled by a brilliant delivery from Jofra Archer. KL Rahul was given out LBW on review off Stokes. Soon after, Washington Sundar was caught and bowled by Archer. Just before lunch, Nitish Kumar Reddy was dismissed by Chris Woakes.
Now, all hopes rest on Jadeja, who is fighting hard. But with only tailenders left, India’s chances are fading quickly at Lord’s.
