Vaibha Suryanvashi IPL hundred

There is power in true manifestation, as it never goes unfulfilled. Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi got his manifestation fulfilled not once, but twice in the space of just 10 days. The 14-year-old's first one was to hit the first-ever ball he faced in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season for a six. That wish was ticked as the southpaw smacked Avesh Khan for a first-ball six against Lucknow Super Giants. Talks were going around that probably that six was a fluke.

However, Vaibhav's second manifestation - to score a hundred—was nowhere close to being a fluke. The 14-year-old became the toast of the nation when he smashed a record-shattering 100, which came off just 35 balls - IPL's second-fastest-ever hundred. Before this blazing knock, the RR opener on Monday, April 28, had called his childhood coach, Manish Ojha.

After a few conversations around footwork and technique, Suryavanshi optimistically tells him, "Sir, ajj mai marunga" (Sir, today I will smash the bowlers).

"Maarna par wicket mat de dena. Itminaan se Khelna, Yashasvi se baat karte rehna (Hit the ball, but don't lose your wicket. Play calmly, keep talking to Yashasvi)" the coach said.

On the evening of the match against Gujarat Titans (GT), Vaibhav Suryavanshi padded up, left the dugout, and looked in Jaiswal's eye to exchange a confident fist bump - what followed next was absolute carnage from the blade of the 14-year-old's bat. The southpaw's manifestation once again was fulfilled.

The RR opener smashed 11 sixes and seven fours at a packed Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Finally, the loyal RR fans had something to cheer about as RR won their first game in this IPL season in the Pink City. In just 35 balls, Suryanvanshi brought up his hundred against a quality GT bowling attack, prompting an adorable moment from an injured RR head coach Rahul Dravid. He rose from his wheelchair and animatedly celebrated along with batting coach Vikram Rathour.

“We knew what he was capable of and what kind of shots he was capable of playing,” he said. “But to do it in front of this kind of crowd, in a situation like this and against a really, really good bowling attack, it was really special," Rathour said.

“All of us knew we found something special,” he said. “Our job was to nurture him and to bring him to this level. A lot of credit to him – he kept his nerves.”
