The teenager broke the long-standing record of Mandeep Singh, who had hit 8 sixes, and now holds the record for the most sixes by a U19 Indian player in an ODI.
The match started with a rain break, which reduced it to 40 overs per side. England batted well, with captain Thomas scoring an unbeaten 76 from 44 balls and Ben Dawkins adding a steady 62 from 61 deliveries, helping the home team put up a strong total of 268/6.
